About the City

Siwa Oasis: Desert Magic & Ancient Mysteries

Siwa Oasis is one of Egypt's most isolated and enchanting destinations, located in the Western Desert near the Libyan border. This verdant paradise has been inhabited for over 10,000 years and maintains a unique Berber culture distinct from the rest of Egypt.

The ancient Oracle Temple of Amun, where Alexander the Great was declared the son of god, still stands at the edge of the oasis. The Shali Fortress, built from karshif (salt-impregnated mud), offers panoramic views of the palm groves and salt lakes.

Siwa's salt lakes offer a floating experience rivaling the Dead Sea, with waters so buoyant you cannot sink. The Great Sand Sea surrounding the oasis provides spectacular desert safaris, sandboarding, and unforgettable stargazing under some of the darkest skies on Earth.
